Crate engines have a place in the Mopar world. Pricing is very competitive and they are
built in large batches to keep the cost and time investment low. They are built by the lowest bidder
in most cases. Mopar out sources many parts and products, just like every other automaker.

I'm not going to get into the details of where these engines are built and how they can be
improved, but if you think Mopar employees are building them you are wrong.

For example... the Mopar Hemi "crate" series of engines:

These are simply not high quality engines. For the guy trying to build and sell a Hemi
clone car strictly for profit, a crate Hemi may be just fine. It's just a basic rough balanced
production engine with a slightly larger cam, built in a high volume facility. It carries a 90 day
extremely limited warranty that covers only the repair of the "bad" components. Mopar has no
obligation or expectation of repairing a damaged or improperly built engine.

From the Mopar Performance web site:

Performance parts are sold as is, without any warranty whatsoever. In other words...good
    luck.

The Mopar enthusiast that intends on buying a Hemi motor for keeps, with expectations of
performance and durability probably would not be happy with a Hemi crate engine, no matter how
inexpensive it is. Please see read the "hemi crate issues" page on this site.

We can rebuild / balance and optimize your crate engine at a VERY reasonable cost to
make it perform like it should and last for many years.
